Regional Cooperative Marketing Program
Under the 1% statewide lodging tax legislation, the Oregon Tourism Commission may appropriate as much as 15% of the revenue to Oregon’s seven tourism regions for cooperative regional and multi-regional marketing efforts.
The Travel Oregon team continues to dedicate significant time and resources to running an effective and efficient RCMP program. Improvements have been made in both communications with the Regional Destination Marketing Organizations and in the process by which plans are reviewed and approved. The marketing team continues to lead monthly calls with the seven RDMOs to cover project updates and brainstorm joint initiatives. We have also introduced marketing planning summits (twice a year) to share direction on all aspects of marketing – from media planning to online initiatives to PR.
Each of the regions now presents their proposed program of work for the given budget period to the Travel Oregon team, who then reviews, negotiates and helps finalize those plans, subject to Commission approval.
